WORLD
TIMES
Whether
you are traveling or doing business globally, it can sometimes be difficult
to figure out exactly what the time is in your country of interest. Easily
obtain what the time is anywhere in the world here.
Standard
time in different parts of the world is based on Greenwich
mean time ( GMT ) , which is the time shown at Greenwich,
England through which the prime meridian of longitude passes. The
world is divided into 24 time zones, each one hour apart. Zones to the
east of that containning the prime meridian progressively add one hour
to GMT to arrive at standard time, which zones to the west progressively
lose one hour. The theoretical line at which the two sets of zones meet
is called the International Date Line. The date is advanced one day when
crossing the Date Line in a westerly direction and set back
one day when crossing in an easterly direction.
The
following table shows the the in various cities of the world when GMT is
12:00 noon.
